Tobacco is a plant in the nightshade family (Nicotiana), most commonly Nicotiana tabacum, that is cultivated for its leaves, which contain the addictive chemical nicotine.

What’s in Tobacco?

  • Tar – a sticky substance formed when tobacco is burned; it damages lungs.
